What is a priority claim in bankruptcy?

Answer: A priority claim is one that entitles the pre petition creditor's claim to be paid ahead of other unsecured claims...specifically those not entitled to any priority status. In a bankruptcy case, priority refers or relates to the order in which claims are paid under the rules contained in the United States Bankruptcy Code.
