Credit grantors with whom you have established credit
relationships with in the past and present supply payment histories on your
credit file report.
These payment histories include both open/closed accounts. Payment in
full doesn’t remove your payment history from your credit file report.
The following are some dates to remember when reviewing your payment
history in your credit file.
- Credit accts-Accts. Pd. as agreed remains up to
10 years from DLA.
- Accts pd. not as agreed remains up to seven years from
DLA.
- Collection accts-remain 7 years from DLA
- Courthouse Records- remains for
7 years from date filed unless renewed.
- Bankruptcy- Remain for 10 years
- Unpaid tax liens remain indefinitely.
- Paid tax liens remain for 7 years
from date released.
- Some states have specific laws that may regulate the
time of a negative payment history in your credit file report.
(DLA-Date of last activity is when the time is started
in the above accts.)
