Table of customer non-payment excuses

If any of the following excuses are thrown your way be careful on how you close the collection call. Customers are always right but sometimes we need to read through the excuse and find the true problem and work together to resolve it as soon as possible.

  • This is the way we have always done it!
  • I didn’t know if you were in a hurry for it!
  • That’s not in my dept.!
  • No one told me to go ahead and pay it!
  • I am waiting on an OK!
  • That’s her/his job!
  • I forgot!
  • I didn’t think it was that important!
  • I’m busy right now!
  • I thought I told you!
  • I wasn’t hired to do that!
