When we learned that a debtor paid the collection agency we use months ago, we called the agency. They are in business but are “having trouble finding the payment.” Any suggestions?

Answer: My first step would be to ask the debtor to send me a copy of the front and back of the cancelled check. If the debtor does that and the collection agency will not return your money, I suggest that you place the collection agency for collection or use an attorney to try to get your money.
