Can a professional designation really make the difference between getting a job and not getting a job?

Answer: : Let me answer this question two ways. Some companies establish minimum standards for a position to weed out weaker applicants. If one of those standards is, for example, a CCE and you do not have a CCE, your application will never get past the Human Resources Department. The other answer is that given two equally qualified candidates, one could be chosen over the other based on their professional accreditation. It is not simply what the applicant learned in earning the professional designation, it is what the designation says about the applicant's work either and their commitment to their own professional development.
