An applicant claims the company is exempt from sales tax as
a registered "not for profit" corporation. Are they?
Answer: Possibly. It depends
on applicable State law. In California, few non-profits are exempt from
sales tax. The customer should be willing and able to produce and deliver
some document issued by the State Board of Equalization [or similar State
entity] confirming that the State considers all purchases made by this
entity to be exempt from sales tax. |
