When a payment commitment is broken how can the collector find
out why?
Answer: Often, customers are not challenged to explain their failure to pay
as agreed. Customers will often tell the collector they had every intention
of keeping their commitment but a problem prevented them from doing so.
Many collectors do ask some or all of the following questions:
- Why didn’t you call and tell me your payment plan had changed?
- Were you aware that orders were being released based
on your payment commitment?
- How can we prevent this from happening
again?
- Will the payment in question be released today?
- How firm is this
new commitment?
- Can you call me when the check is in the mail?
