What is a compilation?

Answer: As it relates to financial statements, compilations are reviews that do not involve the independent CPA performing any tests on the accuracy of the financial information being presented. When preparing a compilation, the independent auditor’s role is limited and the CPA cannot offer any opinion about to the accuracy of a customer’s financial statements or whether they are presented according to GAAP rules.
